We have an interesting and interactive prosem for next week focused on best practices and great ideas to make fieldwork safer, better, and more inclusive. Whether you are just getting your feet wet, or you’ve been doing fieldwork for three decades, you’re sure to gain some new ideas and get to know your colleagues a little better.
The discussion is being co-organized by two departmental groups that have been working to improve our workplace. First, our departmental URGE pod is part of a nationwide effort (Undoing Racism in GEosciece) to implement anti-racist practices in geosciences. Second, the department DEI Committee leads a lasting, committee-led effort to improve our departmental climate through social activities and promoting DEI principles.
Being safe and inclusive in the field has tons of benefits. Join us next week for some great discussions on what we can all do to improve our fieldwork practices.
